M Ryan Hess

The author of Source World Ghosts, M Ryan Hess, was also editor and co-author of The Ten Minute Activist, published by Nation Books. Before working on the Actitivst project, Ryan lived for two years in the Inland Sea of Japan, where he wrote Source World Ghosts.

Ryan's isolated life in rural Japan played a significant role in conceptualizing both the strange worlds and cultures he created as well as the alienation felt by the characters. Through study of the Japanese language and mythology, he was able to enrich Source World Ghosts with a linguistic and spiritual flavor that is neither familiar nor unbelievable. The end result is a story that reads like Japan, told frenetically, but with whispers of a lost world hidden just under the surface.

Having traveled to over thirty countries on four continents, Ryan had much first-hand knowledge of the exotic to draw from. He has also worked his background in history and linguistics into this work.

Ryan has a masters in Library and Information Science and currently works as an Information Specialist for Adobe Systems, Inc.
